Dick Orleans was an artist, a musician, and a lover of all things green. "Someday I'll end up a tree," the lyrics to one of his earliest songs say. "Yeah, someday I'm gonna be a tree." He passed away peacefully on May 12, 2014 in Rocky Mountain National Park taking photographs of his most recent favorite fox family. Surrounded by the mountains and a fresh blanket of Spring snow, he was exactly where he wanted to be.
Having spent more time in the mountains than anywhere else, Dick shared his life with the hills and the pika and the moon and the sun. He touched the lives of many budding artists, musicians, and visitors to Estes Park, and is remembered always.
